Cybersecurity Services

Your network is the path every business system uses. We help you review firewalls, access control, segmentation and remote access so unwanted traffic is stopped, and the traffic you do need can still flow.

Service Overview

Network defense is the set of controls that decide what is allowed to move between the internet, your office, remote users and the systems that hold your data. A firewall that was set up years ago, a flat network where every device can talk to every other device, or remote access that is wider than it needs to be, all increase the damage a single compromised account can cause.

What this service is

We review how your network is currently built and filtered, identify weak points, and recommend configuration changes you can actually maintain. We do not rip out working equipment for the sake of a replacement project.

The risks it addresses

Open ports that should not be reachable, overly broad remote access, malware moving sideways between machines, guest or IoT devices sitting on the same network as business systems, and firewall rules that nobody has reviewed in years.

How your business benefits

Clearer control over who and what can reach your systems, a smaller blast radius if one device is compromised, and documentation of the rules you are relying on.

What We Help Protect

We focus on the network paths that would cause the most disruption if they were misused.

  • Business networks
  • Firewalls and gateways
  • Servers
  • Remote users
  • Cloud environments
  • Infrastructure

Core Capabilities

Each engagement is scoped to your network. These are the areas we typically cover.

Firewall Assessment and Configuration

A review of existing rules, unused openings and default settings, followed by agreed changes that tighten access without blocking legitimate work.

Network Segmentation

Separating groups of systems so that a problem in one area cannot move freely into another, for example keeping guest Wi-Fi away from finance systems.

Access Control

Review of who can reach which systems, including administrator paths, vendor access and services that no longer need to be exposed.

Traffic Monitoring

Making useful network activity visible, so unusual connections are easier to notice and investigate rather than disappearing into a log nobody reads.

Network Vulnerability Review

A structured look at exposed services, outdated network devices and weak points that an attacker would try first.

Secure Remote Access

Review of how staff and suppliers connect from outside the office, with recommendations that keep remote work possible without leaving the door open.

Why This Service Matters

When the network is poorly controlled, a problem on one machine becomes a problem for the whole business. These are the consequences tighter network controls help you reduce.

Unauthorised access

Services that are reachable from the internet, or from the wrong part of the office, are an invitation nobody intended to send.

Operational disruption

If malware can move freely between machines, restoring one computer is not enough. The network design decides how far the damage goes.

Credential compromise

A stolen remote-access login is far more dangerous when it can reach every system rather than a limited set.

Downtime during recovery

A flat, poorly documented network takes longer to isolate and restore, which extends the time your team cannot work.

Our Approach

A clear, staged process so you always know what is happening and what comes next.

  1. 01

    Understand

We learn how your office, remote staff and key systems connect, and which paths the business cannot afford to lose.

  2. 02

    Assess

We review firewall rules, network layout, remote access and a sample of traffic paths to see what is currently allowed.

  3. 03

    Protect

We agree configuration changes with you first, then tighten rules, segmentation and remote access where needed.

  4. 04

    Prioritise

Findings are ranked by realistic risk, so you are not asked to rebuild the network in one step.

  5. 05

    Improve

We check that the new rules still allow legitimate work, then refine anything that gets in the way.

  6. 06

    Support

We remain available as you add sites, suppliers or cloud services that change the network picture.

What You Receive

Everything we produce is written to be useful to both technical staff and business decision makers.

  • Assessment summary of current network controls and gaps
  • Findings covering firewall, access and segmentation issues
  • Risk prioritisation ranking issues by likely impact
  • Configuration recommendations you can apply or ask us to apply
  • Recommended remediation in a practical order
  • Executive summary written in plain language

Who It Is For

  • Small and medium-sized enterprises
  • Growing businesses
  • Businesses with remote teams
  • Organisations running on-site servers
  • Companies wanting an independent network review

Frequently Asked Questions

Do we need to buy a new firewall?

Often no. Many problems come from rules that were never reviewed, not from the hardware itself. We start with what you already have. A replacement is only suggested when the current device cannot do the job, or is no longer supported.

Will this take our internet offline?

The review itself does not. Configuration changes are planned with you, including a maintenance window if a change could interrupt service. We do not apply live firewall changes without your approval.

What is network segmentation in plain terms?

It means putting systems into groups that cannot all talk to each other by default. If a reception computer is infected, it should not be able to reach the server that holds invoices. Segmentation is how you make that true.

Can you help with staff working from home?

Yes. Remote access is part of this service. We review how people connect, whether that access is broader than it needs to be, and what a safer arrangement would look like for your setup.

How is this different from penetration testing?

This service reviews and improves the controls you already run. Penetration testing tries to break through those controls and reports what it found. The two complement each other, and many clients use both.

What happens after the review?

You receive ranked findings and recommended configuration changes. You choose what to implement. We can apply agreed changes with you, or leave the work with your internal IT.
